Tomás is 10 and lives in Lisbon, Portugal. This weekend, he’s finally going to get the chance to drive the motorboat his father has been patiently restoring. It’s just the chance he needs to find out a little more about his country’s special attachment to the sea. It’s a centuries-old relationship, and one that’s been marked by the achievements of some very famous explorers. Up until now, Tomás has had to make do with steering his surfboard. It’s his favorite sport … along with soccer, of course! But before climbing aboard, he’ll have to be patient just a little longer as his parents have got a busy schedule prepared for him: hiking along the coast to discover the fascinating world of Europe’s western-most fishermen.
